well, eles arent just about nuking you know...
Yes, Renewal is the best nuking elite, but there are others.
Ether Prodigy - very good e-management spell, love it.
Obsidian flesh - solofarming elite of choice.
Star Burst - star of the PBAoE nuking

Ether Prodigy, hands down.

Attunements = strippage.

Ether Prodigy.

You want to state what you want to do with your elite? As usual, different scenarios=different skills needed.

I see lots of people like Ether Prodigy as their elite for its e-management elementalist skill.

For me its Glyph of Energy. Reduce next spell by 20, next spell does not cause exhaustion. Cost 5, recharge 15 seconds. Ether Prodigy, cost 10, recharge time 60, duration 45 seconds

Energy: Ether Prodigy
Glyph: Glyph of Energy
Fire: Starburst
Earth (all earth elites are great) Obsidian Flesh
Water: Mirror of Ice
Air: Lightning Surge

There you go, best ele elites, imo

Mirror of Ice is just cool when an E-denial mesmer comes and got "backfire" by the mirror. Fast and easy to spam.

When did Ether Prodigy get its recharge to 60?

I think you're confusing it with the pre-buff Elemental Attunement. Ether Prodigy has 5e cast, 5 seconds recharge, and, depending-on-attribute-level length.

By the way, in my humble opinion, Lightning Surge is terrible.

I mostly use it when i'm around 30% of energy left. But honestly, the time of use depends upon what kind of spells you have. If you're mostly having low to medium energy spells you can activate it quite late. If you're spamming 25 Energy Spells left and right, hit it as soon as your first spell got out.

Just make sure your energy is low when EP ends to avoid the damage (but you can "cure" that with a negative energy set).

My all time favorite Ele Elite?

Ether Prodigy.
3.3 Energy each second
Short recharge counters Removal
5 Energy cost

Two elite spells are particularly useful to me...
1) Ride the Lightening
2) Energy Boon.

Currently I'm favouring Ride the Lightening - purely due to the amount of time I spent trying to capture it from that git of a dragon, lording it over everyone in the Unwaking Waters. I use it with Tenai's Wind, Lightening Tough and Whirlwind (the same as Tenai's Wind - but essentially it's like having 2 of the same spells). THen I can ride the lightening into a pack of enemies, knock them down with wind, give them a lighening touch and just as they get up, knock them down again - works a treat.

Aura Of Displacement is better than Ride the Lightning, however you'd have to be E/A for that.

Energy boon is beyond horrible when compared to other energy elites. If you don't have Prophecies learn how to micromanage your exhaustion to use Second Wind, otherwise just use Ether Prodigy.
